Are you calling those people who bought the iTunes beatles songs stupid?
I'm saying that all those people who said, "Everyone who likes the Beatles already have all of their albums" (ahem, that list includes me!) weren't just wrong, they were epically wrong.

How is that ironic (Miss Morissette)?
Because this forum, one that expends an epic number of posts lambasting Microsoft and anything it ever does, simply has to conceed that's it's doing a good job in this instance. Microsoft, making the Apple experience, better.

Does iPad wifi and iPad 3G use the same update file or do I need to download twice?
Already got iPhone to do so 3 iOS downloads would be nice to avoid!
Why would you want to download instead of using iTunes. It will download and install the right update file for each device. No worries. Based on the varying file sizes being reported here, there are obviously different builds for each device.

I'll make this point again... How is what Apple is doing any different than what Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony do with approvals for applications on their devices? If anything, Apple should be commended for giving everyone access to the development environment at a significantly reduced cost. The reason for the approval process is clear: they want to do QA before the product is released because if something bad happens, every news organization will feature headlines about it for a week.
Consoles have never been regulated to this extent. Apple wants you to add a +17 to your app because it can access the web. Rogue Amoeba was told by Apple that they can't even use the likeness of Macs on their Airfoil app. It's hilarious because Apple already allows you to do this on OSX and provides you the ability to do so. Apple initially denied the NIN app because of language yet they sold the song in the store.
This has become so sickening and I hope Apple gets hurt by this. You can't keep running commercial of apps by third party devs and then treat them like garbage.
I no longer want to hear this excuse for bad press. Virtually every other platform now has an app store and have to deal with the same issue, yet they are far more open as a product.

Thanks, I live in the UK so should be able to find it locally.

Typical machead responses on this thread:
microsoft wireless media player - aww that's sooo stupid...
apple wireless media player (when it comes out) - aww that's sooo cool...
now go drink your kool-aid everyone...:)
When 60 million people are drinking the same kool-aid, common sense would tell you it's great and you should give it a try :)
edit: and before you say that MS has 90% of the computing environment and i should try that kool-aid because it must be great. I did try it and it's skunk water!

Guys... has it occurred to anybody that the ichat phone is the biggest joke???
Why on earth would the iSight be on the back?? So when you talk to someone you can't see them?and the microphone is on the front???? WTF?
M
That's why nobody is talking about it. Because it's so obviously fake. (The ad was at least slightly believable. The video is horrible.)

That's the image Apple is trying to put out there.
That the Mac is for fun and PC is for working? I don't think so. I'd rate that as nothing more than an opinion, and a rather prejudicial opinion at that.
Count me as another part of "the population" who uses a Mac for business. All of it. In fact, my Windows box is relegated strictly to games. What you don't seem to recognize is that not everyone in business is a cubicle-dweller beholden to an IT department. We non cubicle-dwellers get to decide for ourselves what technology we use to run our businesses.

Can you imagine what this wireless zuneing feature will be like in the real world? I bet they haven't come up with a way to make the wireless feature only try talking to the zune you want it to, so it'll try talking to any other zune within the proximity of the wireless transmission capability.
You'll be walking down a crowded street in a hurry trying to get your music playing when all of a sudden a box will pop up over your interface "User s8trBoi wants to send you the song "Skate or Die" by "The Snotty Adolescent Band." Do you want to accept?" You think wtf? Then suddenly it disappears and a new box pops up that says "Connection Lost, would you like to try again? [retry] [cancel] [stop] [close zuneing port]" After this keeps happening you click [close zuneing port], which turns off the wireless capability on your zune. Then you can't share songs anymore, and the pref to turn it back on will be buried under a complex interface. So the wireless capability will be used for all of a week for most people.
Then maybe spammers will realize that this is a whole new fertile ground for their sludge. So you'll be walking down the street and suddenly a box will pop up over your interface that says "User "*BUY CHEAP VIAGRA*" wants to send you the song "ONLY 5 DOLLARS PER BOTTLE!!!" by "WWW.WE-R-SPAM.COM" Do you want to accept?"
Zune sounds like a great new world. Thanks Microsoft.
It took me 5 minutes to read this completely I was laughing so hard. The sad part is that it is so true.

why would u really need a better resolution for the iSight?
Use it as a video/security/iChat/Games camera.
Use it for higher quality still shots.
Have improved video chat quality when real broadband speeds available. I have 1meg up 8meg down, that should be fast enough for some decent video.
its stupid
all most people do is take funny pics of them-selves and do iChat
Because the current quality is so low...
And I think you'll find that people do more than that.
And even if thats all they do why not have a higher resolution? Seems plenty of people are doing these things.
if u increase the quality of the iSight for iChat, then it slows the video down
it also will be jerky because the file is large
If you have average machines and broadband yep it does. Whereas if you have more potent dual intel machines, mpeg4 and decent ADSL2+ etc, then you can get better quality video...iChat can already support 4 people communicating now, so 2 communicating with higher bandwidth should be easy *sigh*
and a wireless iSight will just make iChat even slower
Really? How fast is wireless...mmm...up to 54mbps...how fast is decent broadband...1-2mbps up stream...gee wireless is like 25x faster than it needs to be to keep the frame rate up for broadband. Even at range it should be faster.
And there are PLENTY of high end (Axis etc) wireless security cameras out there right now using G to pump back MPEG4 video wirelesly. I even have one.
Maybe you should do some research first before calling people stupid ;)

They make all of Nikons sensors, even the high end D3S and D3X dSLRs ones. They also made (or make?) Canon point and shoot sensors; at least as of a few years ago. Sony was one of the first with backlit CMOS as well.
Oh, and I think Pentax, if you want to consider them a camera compay, uses Sony sensors.
Aw man I definitely can't wait now! We're in April so not too long for WWDC to see the preview or whatever.
I hope they have a new notification system going, yet I feel if so, they'll wait until the official announcement (in the fall) to unleash that. Either way I'm extremely excited and hoping for a true revolution (I'll settle for evolution if iOS 5 is amazing) with the iPhone 5!

Why not 4GB of RAM?
The system uses some of the 4 GiB of physical address space to map I/O busses and devices.
For example, that 256 MiB of VRAM on the graphics card appears in the physical address space -- which means that only 3.75 GiB is available for real memory. PCIe busses take more, as well as network and other needs. PCI Express reserves a lot of memory for I/O space.
A with a 32-bit chipset the OS has to "ignore" any real memory that's usurped by I/O space reserved addressing. A 64-bit chipset (with a 64-bit OS) doesn't have that problem.
I have a 4 GiB Dell D620, but Windows and Linux only see about 3.1 GiB of that due to the I/O space issues. I expect that OSX86 has the same restrictions - since it's a hardware issue.
IBM only offers 3 GiB configs of the same Yonah/Napa combination - apparently to avoid "where's the rest of my memory" complaints. It looks like Apple is copying IBM's approach.
_____________________
The ProMac has a 64-bit capable chipset, so the memory extensions that were used for the PowerMac G5 can be used to avoid this issue.
The Napa chipset is 32-bit - Santa Rosa will be 64-bit.

Is there anyone who actually got his serial number to be confirmed as a faulty one? I keep getting a " This serial number is invalid or does not qualify for the program."
While my serial number starts with 6C5353... which as far as I can check fits into the range of valid iBook battery serial numbers.

Then how do you turn it off? If it's a feature I should have the option to change it back to how it was. It's pretty annoying and I'm surprised no one else is complaining about it. I understand how some people might like it, but you would think there would be the option to decide which one you want. Similar to changing the rotation lock on the iPad to mute, some liked it and some didn't
This is almost the exact post I wrote yesterday on the last 4.3 update thread. It is driving ne nuts. And I'm sure I was able to distinguish between texts and emails before. I'm filing it under bug too.
