~Shard~ my jaw dropped when iLounge first reported the nano was 52% smaller in volume. Too bad it wasn't true, because then I would have had to get one!

You're not alone on that one! ;) :D My Engineer brain was trying to compute how that would even be possible, and to no avail... ;)

Not one mention of the STUDIOS in this thread? Ever think that maybe they leaked/exagerated this news to take the attention off of themselves?

Oh no, big bad Wal-Mart won't let us do it...

No arguement what Wal-Mart is doing should be illegal. There is so much that goes against many laws that they somehow weasel their way around it's frightening. That said they aren't the only one nor are the ultimate problem in video distribution.

The studios are stepping over dollars to save pennies. They've put a stangle hold on content claiming to protect the artists... Look at iTunes. Even some of the most ardent opponents have now let their music be distributed that way. In the mean time they only hurt themselves.

I can't imagine that too many studios will sit back and watch Disney dominate the iTunes scene. No matter what Wal-Mart says. There is a perfectly good market for HD growing that I don't see online downloads taking over any time soon. Even with DSL I can't imagine waiting for 50GB to download...

Well, I think you said "maybe," but it's all good now. I will put the Plextor DVD-RW Drive in the bottom bay. Question though, I have Toast 7 for Power PC, but will it work alright under rosetta, or do I have to buy a Universal Binary? No I most certainly did not say "maybe". I said "definitely". The Toast 7.1 update is UB. It's FREE.

Cutting the Military is not for me ...

Let's cut children school programs instead. That is the reality of the situation.

These new nanos are awesome! I'd get one if I didnt have my 60 gig 5G :D

I like black and silver models most of all. I didnt like black 1G nanos(scratches and stuff), but this alu black is great! :)

Indeed, these Nanos show that Apple has NO competition at all in the market...they are gonna sell like hotcakes, even more now than ever...there are simply NO downsides with the new Nanos.

The black one is already on my list...

Those are the 2 SATA ports on the 5000x chipset that Apple didn't use (there are 6 SATA ports.)

So what is the bus for the Superdrive? Is it the old Parallel ATA with the ribbon cable?

I absolutely adore these attempts at prophecy. Bottom line: We have no idea what the thing will cost, and all we can do right now is make educated guesses.

Hence the name of this site: Mac Rumors.

I'll give you that not all the rumors or speculations here are "educated," but if I were to make a price bracket sheet I'd put $29 losing out in the first round and $129 in the Final Four.

Did nobody not notice that the Nano ad shows the clickwheel glowing along with the screen? Looking at photos of the new Nano kind of kicks down that prospect, but it's a little of a let down when you realize the click wheel does not glow like in the ad.

It would be sweet though.

I noticed. I too was hoping that it glowed like in the ad.

    Nothing indicates that it would.

    I'm glad I waited. Eye-ballin' a silver one myself.

Another mythical creature that should be easily recognizable. Unlike the unicorn, I was able to get into a good position and fit the entire Pegasus in the frame. I'm glad because I really liked the dynamic pose.

Haven't joined in the POTD for a while - mostly because I'm still playing with my new strobes. But here's a little camera porn for today, courtesy of those same new strobes - and one of the many relics in my camera closet.

I suggest everyone give this a shot...

    http://public-consultation.org/exercise/

This is a pretty cool exercise. I just fixed the US budget problems, and was able to increase spending on education, environmental protection, and assistance for low income families. All while shoring up social security and increasing benefits. Give it a shot everyone!

Your budget deficit for 2015: Surplus of 221.9B
Percentage of long term social security solved - 125%

TAX THE RICH, TAX THE RICH oh and cut military spending by 80%

    Problem solved

Would this run on a maxed 13" air ok?

No clue. I bet it would run but not all that well. I hope these comments on the rest of the Studio will calm some of the "sky is falling" pessimists. I'm not saying that FCPX is a home run yet but I'm more than happy to leave my torch and pitchfork in the shed based on what's been demoed so far.

Having spent a fair amount of time living in a rural environment, I would like to add my distaste for Wal-Mart. They move into an area with their "low prices"
and put all the local stores out of business. There are hundreds of little towns in rural areas of the south that have been devastated by the arrival of a Wal-Mart. I have had business dealings with Wal-Mart and I will tell you they do bully suppliers. I had a shipment to them with the standard invoice terms of 2% discount if paid within 10 days or net invoice if paid withing 30 days. Well, Wal-Mart paid in 90 days and took the discount! PLus they gave me a hrad time when I called them on it! I have not shopped with them in over 15 years, and I plan on keeping it that way. The fact that they sell 40% of the DVDs sold during the Christmas buying cycle does give them clout with the studios, and that is unfortunate. However, I believe that volume could be made up elsewhere, so I am not sure that the studio heads would knuckle under. They have more and more been taking a long term view, so that may diminish Wal-Mart's clout. Let us hope so.
