In response to 63dot, it looks like there was a reproduction.

Now, I wonder if part of the iTunes deal involves "Yesterday and Today" and if a digital version of the cover would be included?

"However, this does not mean these other applications are dead - simply that Apple is not talking about them... yet."
So maybe this explains the low price point. $299 for Final Cut Pro X and $999 for the full suite? I hope not. All looks amazing though!
Dude, this software is simply INCREDIBLE!!! It is worth so much more than $999.00 it is not even funny! If they sell each separate for $299 or $999 for the whole suite then that is an awesome deal with more options for individual purchase than before. I CAN'T WAIT to see the rest of the suite especially the new Motion with Shake baked in :) I was a bit nervous that the other apps were dead so this is GREAT news!
I also think this is the end of Final Cut Express. It makes perfect sense. iMovie = Free, Final Cut Pro X = $299, or if you are a pro you will get the whole suite for the same $999 price as before. Simple and better deals all around for everyone!

Question for everyone.
I was playing with itunes 7, and I realized that if i hit the yellow minimize button (with scale effect set) it minimizes into the dock like normal, but when i try to bring it back from the dock it does nothing for a second and then it just appears. I don't know if the way i wrote that makes sense, but give it a try and see if it works for you.its a genie glitch, or thats how it seems.

Those are some really nice specs, I am sorry if this has been answered before but do we know what Core 2 Duo they are? Conroe or Merom
The 1.83, 2.0, 2.16, and 2.33GHz clock speeds show that it is Merom, not Conroe. Conroe would be 1.86, 2.13 (2MB L2 cache), 2.40, 2.66 (4MB L2 cache), and 2.93 GHz (Core 2 Extreme)
Since the 24" model is at least prosumer, it would have been nice to see that one get a Conroe (Extreme even).

OH good lord what a crock of poo. How can Wal Mart threaten Hollywood studios? What will Wal Mart do, stop selling DVDs and hurt its own retail business? Silly.
I don't believe any of it.

How much power would it take to do 3D with a 9.7 inch screen? Doesn't it need to be rendered twice?
Also, Nintendo said that touch screens mess with the 3D because of fingerprints and oil, so did they lie or did Apple figure out a way?

How are going about mounting the powerbrick behind the desk? I would like mine off my desk aswell.
Well, I just did it, I used green strip putty (I can't remember the name), looks like this only a pine-green
http://www.barrule.com/Workshop/images/products/sylmasta/DURO.gif
I mounted it to the back of the desk, worked really well, just take 2 very small (half inch or so) peices and stick it on. It cleans up pretty easily off plastic, just don't try putting it on dry wall or plaster. (Hence, why I put it on the back of the desk, it wont come off very well, but who looks at the back of the desk?)

i don't understand why some people would long for 12 inch ones when macbook is 13 inches. don't tell me 1 inch will make that big of a difference.
actually it makes a huge difference as the macbook screen is wide aspect, as opposed to the 12in powerbook, which has a squarer screen. the footprints of each are very different, with the MB being almost as large as a MBP's footprint!

Intel will be releasing [...] an ultra-low voltage version for tiny laptops.
The ultra low power versions also go ultra slow. If you take a normal Merom or Yonah, and limit its speed to 1 GHz, the voltage can be reduced as well, and it won't be far away from the so-called "ultra low power" chips at all.

An "Image Sensor" is not a camera. The sensor is part of a camera. In addition to a sensor one needs to add at least a lens, some buffer memory and a controller. Sony makes image sensors for many, other camera makers.
8MP is way to many pixels for a cell phone camera. The only reason to have so many is for marketing purposes because consumers seem to think (wrongly) that more is better. What really limits sharpness of a cell phone camera is the physical size of the lens. If the lens projects a blurred image onto the focal plane the best sensors will simply make a very good recording of the blurred image.
Yes! thank you Chris. God, finally! Please all fanboiz, wake up! It is the LENS it is the quality of the sensor. More MP is not always better!! Spec heads.

How come it is extremely imporbable and unlikely?
They presented there script against a mac because the mac strives on the claim that they are the safest pc out there.
They said in there interview they targeted the mac because they hate the commercials.
Explain how that makes there presentation poor.
Simply put, by presenting the hack with a MacBook they made it appear as though the MacBook had a fatal flaw that was inherent to the system and they were poor at presenting this flaw as a problem with a particular third-party wireless card.
The addition of their complaining about the commercial made they appear as though they had a vendetta and a bias which security researchers should avoid. The flaw should have been presented with a multitude of systems, including the Mac, to show how the flaw affected Windows and the Mac, and they should have been more clear about the addition of a third-party USB wireless device as well as their tweaking of OSX's settings.
They went for a flashy presentation and got fried by it.

Is it just me, or a 24" iMac would've been nice to show on stage with whatever that "Showtime" thing might be? That would, at least, have made some sense to at least start by showing that.
Which means the september 12th presentation must be really packed with new stuff if they couldn't even announce the 24" iMac at that event. They've also bumped the CPUs on the Mac mini today, so that makes two updates on the same day too.
It's also weird to see new releases on a wednesday...
...why do people keep thinking it's so weird?
It was Labor Day on Monday. Apple ALWAYS has Wednesday updates on holiday-weeks.
Although if you're not from the U.S....I could see why it would be weird...

And don't have a single 12/13in model in existence? I don't think so.
Some people want small form factors. It's a shame Apple thinks form factors and power are in a 1-to-1 relationship. Some people want powerful laptops with smaller displays (12in PB is no more) or less powerful laptops with larger displays (15in iBook is no more). Hopefully Apple learns to stop limiting themselves in this way. Think differently differently.
wow , talk about completely missing a joke... wow.

Technically it's not MP that's the issue. It's pixel density.
Given the perfect conditions and equal image sizes (I.e. All the images at 2MP) the results will be almost indistinguishable between a phone, point and shoot and a D-SLR.
Comparing the 5MP iPhone 4 sensor to a 12MP Point & Shoot and a 40D the difference between the iPhone 4 and the P&S and 40D will be significant.
Simply: 40D @ 10MP >> TZ8 @ 12MP >>> iPhone 4 @ 5MP.

Anyone tell me what good is a 64-bit processor other than being able to address more RAM. I know a 64-bit address bus alone doesn't make a 64-bit processor.
Not a lot of difference at the moment is the short answer. Usually the benefit of 64 bit chips is that they also come wwith more registers or bigger caches, or more fucntional units etc etc which is where the performance increase is.
I also heard these are not "true" 64-bit processors, just the same old x86 processors w/ 64-bitty goodness added on. Any truth to this?
You're a died in the wool macophile right? :D These C2D (the real Core architecture, the CD was a beefed up pentium M) are pretty highly developed chips with some very nice features. Go and read arstechnica.com you'll be impressed.

I finally got through again.
First time, it came back and said both the computer and battery were ineligible. After checking the Pbook's serial number again, I realized I had a digit wrong. Fixed that, and it came through and asked for my address. I then got a confirmation page, and got an email a few minutes later. So keep trying.
For the record:
15 in. Powerbook G4 purchased in June 2005
Battery serial number started with: 3K521

I'm sorry I hurt your feelings because I don't like your phone  but that is what this conversation boils down to at this point. My original feelings to the OP were that if Apple waits, they are going to lose customers. If they start routinely lengthening their iPhone releases, they are heading for disaster.
I am one of these - I have been holding out for months with my slooooow 3G because my contract expired and I knew the stardard release for next gen iPhone is summer. I was going to get this one no matter what.
Now with this uncertainty, I'm not willing to suffer anymore, and I'm switching to Android (Atrix). Apple actually pissed me off with this one.

Anyways, I reccomend people use this firmware instead of geting their heatsink replaced. The later option involves an ugly screw in the middle of your macbook.
Not only that. It will also make your keyboard turn pink and on a moonless night the Combo drive will start to play "La Cucaracha".

Sligthly off-topic:
Judging from history what do you thing, when would iLife '07 be available?
I am seriously considering to wait a little longer (the 1.83 model has left me strongly disappointed).
So I thought I can wait a little longer and buy when iLife 07 will be included in the purchase (to make up for the lousy specs )
iLife is updated every year at Macworld San Francisco in January. Just wait until then if you really want. I've got a bit of a feeling that we'll be seeing quite a bit of Leopard then, quite possibly even a release date since Vista is released later that month...
