Pretty disappointing, although I was the ONLY PERSON on macrumors and apple insider to call the LAME GAME update, which doesn't even work on the current 5G iPOD Video (at least this is what I read somewhere earlier today). I would call that pointless.
Movies... eh... I will still be buying DVDs and pulling them on.
Do current video iPODs support the new movies and TV Show formats?
It was nice of them to show us that they are planning on having an iTV unit.
ugh... I gotta go teach... we'll talk later.

I dont want new MacBooks!
I already have my MacBook so that may be influencing me but there is my gripe. There is finally a separation between the MacBook and the MacBook Pro. There is an obvious reason for why the MacBook Pro costs more. Bringing them both to the same level creates the same problem Apple used to have... many (including myself) can easily justify getting MacBook instead of the MacBook Pro because the MacBook does everything you need the Pro version to do.

There have to be a lot of developers that won't get the opportunity to go because it sold out. Apple needs to start holding 2 of these per year to support the developer community.
That doesn't make any sense....

It was all smooth sailing til tonight and my Macbook had a random shut down. I've had the firmware upgrade since the day it came out. I noticed this time I couldn't just try to power back up by pressing the power button. I had to either take out the battery and put it back in or plug it up to external power for atleast the start up.
Bleh, I was so relived that I wouldn't have to send it in with the firmware thingy, so much for that. :(
So everyone elses are doing fine?

Pretty quick response to fixing the issue with 4th gen iPod Touches. Was getting really annoying. :)

I am quite certain this feature is something enabled/disabled within the Settings. Perhaps this will be yet another option for the mute/orientation lock switch.

I lost my last job due to outsourcing. I know what it feels like.
Let's just not forget that we need jobs too, and we offer better conditions for the factories, so it's only fair that we get them.

Although I never had a RSS, I did apply the update.
I'm curious about those temps you are mentioning though.
I have CoreDuoTemp installed and it shows 57C without doing anything fancy! Just Mail.app and Safari are open and I haven't done any serious work in the meantime.
34C seems kinda low :/

I believe the GeForce 7600 GT is on par with the X1800 GT, faster in some cases, slower in others. It's a pretty good graphics card. I would just like to see the GeForce 7600 GT bump out the 7300 GT on Mac Pro.
Does anyone know how the 7300GT compares to the X1600? I am leaning towards the 20" to replace my 17" rev. A iMacG5, but would upgrade to the 24" is the GPU is a big bump.

initial backup over wifi (required) then future incremental (smaller) backups could be over 3G. the iPhone already tells you when an app is to large to update w/o wifi - it's already been training us about what we can and can't do w/o wifi.
who determines what qualify as future incremental backups? What if I do my initial (required) backup over wifi, then add 5gb of photos? Don't think the wireless carriers are going to go for that.
But that's besides the point... i was referring to apple giving everyone free cloud storage.
As of January this year, over 160 million iDevices have been sold. Consider maybe an average of 20gb per device and apple is looking to give out 3.2 billion GB of cloud storage to it's customers. Something tells me this is not going to happen. You think they want to let everyone back up their 64gb iPod touches to the cloud. You think apple or att/verizon is going to be ok with people backing up their 32gb iPhones to the cloud? No way, not a chance...

Why the **** would Apple ever pre-install Windows on a Mac.
If they went that route then they might as well just cancel all develop on OS X, because they would need that money to pay Microsoft.
I honestly feel that Boot Camp is one of the worst things that Apple could ever do, but they had to appease the little kids. But just wait until the first virus hits your Windows partition and screws up the boot sector of your drive and you're unable to start either OS.
God, some people!
Your windows installation will not hurt your OSX installation.
They don't see eeach other, and windows is on a seperate partition.
Stop calling people a moron if you don't know what you are talking about.
Boot camp basically eliminated the need to ever buy a PC.
It was an incredibly smart move.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you get over a lot of the quality issues by using a 90 degree bend, so the lens on the back of the phone/ipad is almost just a glass cover, behind which is a mirror, then you have a long unit at 90 degrees to this device which holds various lenses, so for example you could have a 10 or 20mm long lens barrel/system inside there?

This just proves how idiotic humanity is. These songs have been available in multiple formats for over 40 years, but only now, since they are offered in a lossy digital file, do people buy them.Considering that the Beetles were the 2nd highest selling musical act of the last decade people were still buying the physical CDs.

All this proves is that Beatles fans like to waste their money repurchasing music they already own just because it's available in a new format. I bet that most of the albums and individual songs sold were purchased by people who already own that album/song.
It's not wasting money. Buying a digital copy results in higher quality than ripping the original vinyl albums, and buying remastered releases results in better quality than original releases.
Just because you don't have the ability to understand the importance or the appeal of Beatles music doesn't mean those who can are wasting money by buying what they like. It's really amazing how many posters like to criticize something, just because they don't personally like it. That's why millions of musicians can be successful, because there are so many musical tastes.
Like what you like. Buy what you want. But don't be so infantile as to attack those whose tastes differ from yours.

THEY BROKE iTUNES 5.x!
Well, you can still use it for playback and music management. But you can't use the shopping cart any more.

I agree that Apple needs to come up with some new designs for their hardware. I think the new nanos are a perfect combination of the nano (slim design, flash memory) and the mini (seemless casing, scratch proof) but the other products seem to be long in the tooth. The MacBook Pro/PowerBook has looked basically the same since it was debuted with a G4 processor (what was that, 2002?). The MacBook/iBook got a somewhat update look with the latest release, but kind of took a step backwards IMO.
However, with all of that said, 99% of us do not work for Apple and do not know how to design like they do. Where do you go with the current MBP? I would love to see an anodized black version but that still does not give us much of a difference at all. I am interested in seeing new products. I was dissapointed when they released the new MacPro's in the same encolusers. An extra optical slot and moving the power chord to the top of the tower does not count as a redesign.
Oh c'mon!! Why did the designers at apple pay education for?? Really?!!
Ok... I studied design myself(although a cinematographer now ;) ), and I know how hard it is to keep a sleek, clean, "ahead of its time" look and feel. But please!! 1yr Retro style?? Are they using recycled minis or something??
Really guys... This is not a complaint but Steve "Marketing Master" Jobs was not happy on this one... I know alot of people love the minis, and I also know that they will sell millions of "retro" nanos... but in a market POV its really bad to "go back in time" with design and say its brand new. And one last note about them: Theres millions of colors on the pallete... why use the same ones?? Again: are they recycled?? Cause if they are, Ill buy a couple, just for the sake of "saving the world".
the Mac Pros for example... they couldve done the cases with different finish or something.. but keeping the same design saved them millions of cash...
BUT WAIT!! :p
Ok... lets get a little optimistic here:
Steve told us all last year, that this (2006) was going the be the "year of transition". So its quite dumb of us to expect big redesigns, and/or mint new technologies...
That makes me think that the design team is REALLY focusing on applying those new patent technologies on a brand new line of products hard/software. And what happens is:
Marketing Director - Time for new yearlly ipods!!
Design Chief Exec. - Do we still have some Mini aluminum on stock?
Chief Hardware Engineer - Yes plenty for a couple of million.
Design Chief Exec. - Okay, so lets just wrap up our current stock of nanos with it, and get the hell out of here.
Marketing Director - Yes, cof cof, sir.
;) These are just my two cents... :p
Conclusion: Big redesigns -> 2007-2008

If it hooked up to a wiki with the old wireless and allowed approved paid contributors/users to edit and add entries from the magippear keyless keyboard, it would truly become the essential traveller's instructional companion. Pop it in a sock, because you should always know where your sock is. Yes, it's a hitch-hiker's guide, no less...

I have to descent from the mass and say I was not impressed by the Keynote. What the hell is with Safari still having the brushed metal interface, as well as the finder, etc...
I thought they were finally going to get rid of that and get some consistency in their GUI.
Overall, I am much more interested in the developers. When is OS X going to be more than a different OS and get some key native applications? Apple continues to lead the show, as they should, but they should take a hint from Microsoft and promote their developers more. Like it or not, it's not Apple, but ultimately their developers that will grow the platform.
Steve really should have pressed the developers to commit on stage to release dates...if that was possible. Microsoft should have been present to provide some information in regards to the next version of Office and its time frame for release.
How can he press them for release times when they haven't even got their hands on the new Developer kit?
Also its up to the developers i.e. Adobe et al to get the key native apps out the door. Apple is doing everything it can to help them. i.e. Xcode 2.x, hands on labs etc. Thats what WWDC is for.

I do understand ... very clearly
we do not need to cut corners on things like Helicopters by hanging onto ancient machines like the Sea King Helicopters or as they are known ..."flying coffins"
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/cdnmilitary/seaking.html
Ok Canada spends approx $20 billion on military spending.
My proposed budget for the US military was $100 BILLION, 5 times as much as Canada. Believe me, would do just fine without it.
